Will Getting My CPR Certification Mean That I will Save A Life?
Cardiac resuscitation doesn’t always work and some people who get CPR do die but you never know who could be saved unless you try. Those who have survived a cardiac arrest are very grateful to the people who took the time to attend a first aid class and learn the techniques that helped save their lives. Their families are also grateful. There is something called a chain of survival and we all should play a role in that chain.
If we witness an emergency we need to call 911 but then start CPR immediately. There is no point waiting for the emergency services to arrive as it could be too late by then. Ask someone to go find an AED if possible but don’t stop doing chest compressions until one arrives and someone knows how to use it. If you have taken your CPR certification, the use of AED devices would have been covered by your course. When the emergency services arrive they will take over and bring the victim to hospital for more specialist care.
